2.2 Output

Advanced Output

Block diagram — Advanced Output

This block can be used to create a specialized output function. 1–8 pins can be used, and any valid combination of signal types can be used. This output can also combine transistor outputs and relay outputs in the same function (an error on the transistor output will turn off the relay output).

Pins: 1–8

Inputs

  • on — a high signal on this input turns on the output.
  • clear_error (must be enabled in settings) — if this input is enabled, the function does not leave the ERROR-state until a logical 1 has been received on this input. There are no flank requirements on the reset signal; as soon as a logical 1 (HIGH) signal is received the function will leave the ERROR-state.
  • fbk (feedback) — if enabled, this signal must be logical 1 (HIGH) when the ON signal goes high to turn on the output. If this signal is 0 (LOW) when the ON signal turns on, the output function goes to the ERROR-state.

Outputs

  • error — 1 (HIGH) when the function is in the ERROR-state.

Properties

  • Name — sets the name of this block.
  • Error Output — enables the ERROR output.
  • Manual error clear — enables the clear_error input. If this input is enabled, an error on the output will persist until this input gets a high signal.
  • Enable Feedback — enables the fbk input.
  • FBK Monitoring time — the feedback must fall within the time specified by this setting. If the feedback signal does not turn off within this time, the output turns off and the error signal turns on.
  • Pins — specifies the number of terminals used in this function (1–8), and which signals should be output in the OFF and ON-state.

OSSD Output

The OSSD Output can be used to output OSSD signals on any of the 14 transistor I/O. An OSSD signal from any pin detects a short circuit between an OSSD signal on any other pin and to external voltage.

Inputs

  • on — a high signal on this input turns on the output.

Relay Output

This block can be used to configure a relay output on an S16 unit. Technical data for relays can be found in chapter 4, Technical data and Safety parameters, of the Safety Simplifier manual.

Note

If the list of pin numbers is empty, make sure the node is of type S16.

Pins: 1 (relay terminal 15 or 16)

Inputs

  • on — a high signal on this input turns on the output.
  • fbk (feedback) — if enabled, this signal must be logical 1 (HIGH) when the ON signal goes high to turn on the output. If this signal is 0 (LOW) when the ON signal turns on, the output function goes to the ERROR-state.

Outputs

  • fbk_error — 1 (HIGH) when the function is in the ERROR-state.

Properties

  • Name — sets the name of this block.
  • Enable feedback — enables the fbk input.
  • Error Output — enables the ERROR output.
  • FBK Monitoring time — the feedback must fall within the time specified by this setting. If the feedback signal does not turn off within this time, the output turns off and the error signal turns on.
  • Pins — specifies if a single relay output (X2) or double relay output (X4) should be used. If the list of pin numbers is empty, make sure the node is of type S16.

Status Output

This block can be used to output status signals on a transistor I/O. This block is for status/non-safety/indication only and cannot be used for any safety applications.

This block is intended for status/information purposes only and must not be used for safety functions.

Inputs

  • on — a logical 1 (HIGH) signal on this input turns the output ON, outputting a constantly high signal (VDC).

Outputs: None.

Properties

  • Name — sets the name of this block.
  • Pin — which terminal to use.

Coded Output

The Coded Output can be used to output coded pulse signals on any of the 14 transistor I/O. Note that the coded output is always created with a constant 1 signal as the input. A pulsed signal from any pin detects a short circuit between any other pulse signal on any other pin and to external fixed voltage.

Note

Pulse signals can only be used for input to the same node that creates the pulse.
